You can upload CSV files, Excel files (.xlsx), plain text files (.txt), or simply paste your email list directly into the text box. ClientRoots automatically detects the email column in multi-column files and preserves all other data (names, phone numbers, etc.) alongside each email.
ClientRoots checks the domain of each email address against a database of known free consumer email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, iCloud, AOL, and more). Any email on a custom domain is classified as a business contact. The split is instant and available on Starter plans and above.
Your uploaded email lists are processed and immediately discarded. We do not store, sell or share your contact data with third parties. All processing happens in-session only. ClientRoots is GDPR compliant and registered with the ICO.
Basic duplicate detection removes exact matches (the same email address appearing twice). Fuzzy detection (Business plan and above) also catches near-duplicates - for example, "johnsmith@acme.co.uk" and "john.smith@acme.co.uk" from the same domain, which are very likely the same person. This catches the duplicates that basic cleaners miss.
Your usage limits reset every calendar month. On the Free plan you can clean up to 100 email addresses per month. Starter gives you 5,000/month, Business gives you 25,000/month, and Agency gives you 100,000/month. You can run multiple batches throughout the month - the limit is cumulative, not per upload.
